Goliath - Tidbit Movie Review

Goliath is a cult movie that I just do not understand how any hipster-esque individual could even more than slightly enjoy. Originally premiering at Sundance in 2008, Goliath is the story of a divorced man on the search for his cat.  While this is the main premise of the film, it also shows a man bitterly disillusioned as he possesses a mediocre job and confusion of ‘what went wrong’ with his marriage. This film is labeled as a ‘comedy’ and it fails to live to its genre.  While there were at times some laughable moments of the main character, much of it is just anomalous and dull. This film could have been somewhat entertaining if it were a short film, because there are some moments, including the conclusion, that could have been categorized “strangely amusing.” The whole film is stretched out with so many monotonous moments (i.e 5 minutes of signing the divorce papers.) A low budget does not mean a movie has to be tedious! Overall, there is not really anything to give this film a go. Grade: D
